Do creationists sincerely believe there is no evidence for evolution of man, or are they fibbing?
I read an interesting article on this yesterday, and it asserts that people are not swayed by facts. They have a distinct world view, and anything that threatens that view triggers a fight-or-flight response. In fact, the more evidence you produce against their beliefs, the more strongly people will adhere to their beliefs. This seems to be consistent with what I've observed, and it's not restricted to a particular belief or belief system. It's human nature, and goes by a rather ironic-sounding name (because it's so irrational) - "rationalization."
