Games similar to Mount and Blade?

As far as games go the combo of armies and playable character is pretty much unique. i think you should settle for either strategies with some rpg elements like warhammer, might and magick and spellforce or try some rpgs like two worlds 2. Also there is an action game with both of the properties you're looking for, Beowulf. Hope this helps.
