Guys! Why do you tell pointless lies?

I'm a guy and I do not understand a lot of this either. I am the opposite of that, so I cannot answer, but am interested to see if anyone does. It pisses me off it's these types of guys that girls seem to use as the blanket description of all guys. Even though many are not like that.
