Afraid to be your real self? Help anyone out there do this?

There is this adult male that I know. And he copies every girl that he is around. I am not talking about flattering and just fibbing. I am talking about fake interests so much that he will spend hours trying to pretend he is IDENTICAL to that party or person. Why do they do this and if you confront them on it do you think that they would share the real them? I confronted him and told him that he is not being the real him and he continues to do it. Do you think that he will eventually change or still hate me for being real and honest?
